What kind of clay?
What kind of clay?
We use natural air dry clay, which dries in the open air in 24 to 48 hours, to which fibers have been added to make it more resistant. We have chosen a quality clay that is very flexible and easy to work with and whose touch is like a cooking clay.
Our clay comes from Quebec.
Do I need to fire my pottery?
Do I need to fire my pottery?
No, and that's the beauty of Club terracotta boxes. We wanted to make pottery accessible to everyone at home, without the need to fire the pieces in a ceramic kiln. Simply let your pieces dry, between 24 to 48 hours depending on the thickness.
However, as clay does not cook, you will not be able to consume food or drink in your creations, but you will be able to make a host of other objects 👉 see our page Inspiration.
What paint to use for clay?
What paint to use for clay?
We use quality, non-toxic, high viscosity water-based acrylic paints. We chose a paint that is made here in Quebec.
You can also use gouaches or other types of acrylic paint.
What can I make out of clay?
What can I make out of clay?
Really anything you want. The only limit is your imagination, but for some inspiration you can visit our Inspiration page or our < a href="https://www.instagram.com/clubterracotta/" target="_blank" title="Instagram Club terracotta | DIY pottery kits">Instagram. Popular pieces are pots for succulents and cacti, trinket/trinket plates, candle holders, wall hangings and dried flower vases. As the clay is not fired, it will remain sensitive to water but the acrylic and varnish provided in the box will make it much more resistant. If you choose to make a cachepot for your plant, we advise you to leave your plant in its original pot and take it out for watering.
